SOU MARIA CHUTEIRA is a Brazilian movement that redefines the term "Maria Chuteira" and proposes a new perspective on women in football.
A project that unites music, fashion, soccer, and social impact on the eve of the World Cup to transform a historically pejorative expression into a symbol of pride.
OUR GAME
Today, women already represent 49% of Brazilian football fans in the context of the World Cup and National Team. They are in the stands, in the audience, discussing the game, in the streets, and experiencing the game in many ways. Even so, women who are passionate about football often still have to prove that they understand, that they belong, that they are also part of it.
We decided to turn this game around.
Instead of inventing a new term and starting from scratch, the movement chose to do something more powerful: redefine a name that all of Brazil already knows. An expression that for a long time carried judgment now takes on another meaning: pride, identity, and belonging.
SOU MARIA CHUTEIRA believes that culture changes when perception changes. When women are no longer seen as extras or supporting characters and begin to be recognized as protagonists of a passion that has always been theirs too.
And we come to add, not to divide. Much less to diminish any male achievements. Our love is, and always has been, for the same sport.
Because loving football should not be a reason for judgment. As the song Sou Maria Chuteira suggests, Maria and chuteira (football boot) are two words too beautiful to be used to diminish someone.
Light in tone and strong in message, SOU MARIA CHUTEIRA is a Brazilian cultural movement that unites music, fashion, and social impact to celebrate women in football, expand their presence in the sport, and transform an old expression into a new banner of pride.
Shall we turn this game around?
OUR FLAG
Every movement needs a voice. Ours found music.
In partnership with Benziê, we created Sou Maria Chuteira, a beautiful and powerful song with a Brazilian soul, made to tell the story of so many Marias in a way that moves, connects, and can reach far.
But this message also needed to be seen.
That's why we created our first Brasil Collection: a limited edition inspired by Brazilian football, with a feminine, contemporary, and cultural perspective.
An original collection that transforms the football jersey into a flag to wear. Pieces designed for women to experience the World Cup with pride, style, and presence, taking the movement's message to the streets, the stands, the gatherings, and wherever else they want to be.
With Maria Chuteira proudly emblazoned on the back, each piece becomes a way to participate in the movement, spread the message, and inspire other Marias.
Let's wear this flag?
OUR GOAL
Our goal is to make Sou Maria Chuteira a reference in women's football as a movement that succeeded because it changed perceptions.
We want to transform an expression that once diminished into a banner of pride, belonging, and representation. Not to erase the history of the term, but to change its meaning in culture. Because words change when people change the way they use them.
We want to broaden who is part of this game, connecting football, fashion, music, and social impact, and show that women are not just extras in football. They cheer, play, create, work, celebrate, and live this passion in their own way.
And since changing the game also means supporting those at the grassroots level, for every 10,000 pieces sold, the movement commits to supporting an amateur women's team in Brazil with a complete kit of customized uniforms.
Shall we play together?
“What makes this movement so beautiful is that its strength lies in the women themselves,
taking ownership of this name and proudly carrying this banner.”
